Meet the team
Nurse Team
Our nursing team carry out physical, mental and social assessments, looking at every aspect of your pain and how it impacts on your daily life. They also plan treatment and regularly review how you are doing.
Physical Activity Team
Our physical activity team will have an introductory session with you to tell you what types of support they can offer and how it can help you. You are then given the choice of activities that can be done in groups or one-to-one. You may be given a programme of stretches to help with your pain. Some stretches may be very small, but they will still have an impact if done regularly. The team also teach classes in Pilates, stretch and strengthening and chair-based exercise as well as providing a weight management programme and some walking groups at certain times of the year.
Advanced Physiotherapist
Our physiotherapist provides a yoga therapy and education group to help manage your chronic pain through movement and breathing. This will also include an insight into how your nervous system reacts to pain and often affects your pain experience.
Healthcare Assistants
Our health care assistans provide advice and support in sessions. They also provide support in the acupuncture clinics and TENS trials.
Holistic Therapy Team
The therapy team provide short-term treatment to help get you ready to start your stretch programme and self-management techniques. This could be through acupuncture (body and ear) or musculoskeletal (MSK) therapy (muscle testing and gentle remobilisation of your joints and cranial balancing)
Pharmacist
We do not prescribe medication, but our specialist pharmacist can help you to reduce any medications you are taking which can cause dependence. They will also review your medications if you are taking a lot of different things.
Health Psychologist
Our psychologist helps support your mental health, which is often needed if you are living with a long-term pain condition. They do this through one to one and group work in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).
