Deep Vein Thrombosis
The Nurse-led Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Service provides assessment and diagnosis to patients with a suspected DVT. After being referred you attend the DVT clinic at Wilberforce, usually on the same day for assessment and diagnosis. Depending on your test results you may then have an ultrasound scan to confirm if you have a DVT.
Patients with a positive result will then be commenced on appropriate treatment and then referred to our Anticoagulation Service for ongoing monitoring.
Patients can be referred by a GP or healthcare professional.
Patients aged 18 years of age and over:
- Access to telephone
- Suitable for Ambulatory care
- Stable Medical Condition
- Alcohol or substance misuse under stable clinical care with another primary health care professional/service.
