Enable Recite

Be Smokefree in St Helens

25 September, 2015

Stoptober, the 28 day challenge which supports the nation’s eight million smokers to stop smoking, is back and Smokefree St Helens is getting involved to help you quit.

This year, Stoptober coincides with new legislation in England and Wales making it illegal to smoke in a car with someone under the age of 18 present. Regulations designed to protect children from the dangers of secondhand smoke will come into effect on 1st October.

Stephen Landers, who successfully quit with Smokefree St Helens says, “The stop smoking service was very good, they have really supported me. I’m financially better off now that I’ve stopped smoking... My health has improved
and I can now smell and taste my food again.

“My advice to anyone wanting to give up is to sign up to Stoptober and make the most of the free resources available and to get in touch with St Helen’s stop smoking service. It’s worth a try and won’t cost you anything”.

Smokefree St Helens will be in Church Square in St Helens town centre over the next four Saturdays (26th September, 3rd, 10th and 17th October). They are inviting people to come along and sign up to Stoptober and get the full support of the service to help them through their quit journey. The service offers a wide range of services to suit different lifestyles, including 1-2-1, group, Quit online, Quit Buddy SMS text support, telephone support and Free Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) for eligible clients.
