Drop in for sexual health advice in Bransholme

05 June, 2015

The service will be providing a drop-in clinic from 9am -7.30pm, which will be located in the Minor Injuries Unit, Ground floor, Bransholme Health Centre.  The clinic will be providing contraception including the injection and implant (rod), condoms, referral into other sexual health or contraceptive services as required, pregnancy testing and advice and emergency contraception. Staff can also refer on people who require specialist women’s and men’s health services and can arrange access to weight loss, stop smoking and talking therapies services. The clinic will soon be moving into a larger site in the Centre, which will also host specialist services.

Conifer Sexual and Reproductive Health Service recognises that people cannot always get to a clinic and so have decided to trial taking their services to them.

On the 8th June a mobile clinic will also be visiting Bransholme Health Centre offering free and confidential sexual and reproductive services and advice.

The mobile clinic will be open from 9am – 7.30pm in the Bransholme Health Centre car park and on board will be staff who can offer a range of sexual and reproductive health services. The public can drop into the mobile clinic for “RU clear?” home testing kits for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea, HIV and Syphilis (these can be taken away and done at home and then posted back), sexual health and contraceptive advice, condoms and referral into sexual health services.

Conifer has recently been commissioned to provide a new service to the people of Hull and East Riding and is keen to get nearer to where people live to enable them to make the choices they want.

Kate Guthrie, Clinical Director of Conifer said;

"We know from the reduction in teenage pregnancy rates in Hull and the East Riding that given the opportunity to take care of their sexual health people do. We understand that the public can’t always get to us so we want to make sure that we can get our services to them. We are delighted to be bringing the mobile clinic into Bransholme next week - it is accessible but gives just as professional and specialised a service as any hospital based service. If it’s welcomed, we can extend the range of services that can be provided from it and places it can park.’

City Health Care Partnership CIC’s Conifer Service offers FREE, confidential and specialist advice and will work with you to see which is the most appropriate treatment for you.
