16 March, 2012

City Health Care Partnership CIC (CHCP CIC) has awarded its next round of small grants to community and voluntary groups from across the East Riding and Hull.

In this round, 21 groups were successful in their applications for amounts up to £1000, to support health and wellbeing based projects and activities.  This brings the total awarded since the scheme launched in December 2010 to £67,855, supporting a total of 99 organisations.

Hon Lok Senior Association and East Hull Amateur Boxing Club were among those awarded and talks about how the grant will benefit them, Luana Smith from Hon Lok said, “The group will have the opportunity to have a more active social life.  Dancing and tai chi are a universal language and will encourage participants in activities which we know they will enjoy.  By getting people involved we hope that they can overcome isolation and loneliness and also enhance their physical and mental wellbeing.”

Denise Anderton, Social Business and Public Relations Director at City Health Care Partnership CIC said about the scheme: “The small grants programme is a really important part of our ethos as a socially responsible organisation, which has the health and wellbeing of our local community at the heart of what we do. We want to connect with organisations that are at the centre of local communities and ensure our grants reach as many projects as possible.”

East Hull ABC were also awarded a grant in this round, Head Coach Sean Ross commented, “We want to thank everyone at CHCP CIC for the much needed support on gaining this funding. This will enable the club to achieve its development targets and help get more people involved, fitter and healthier with the guidance of qualified coaches.”
