Healthy Routes hits the high street in Leigh
HealthyRoutes is making it easier than ever for the people of Leigh to access help and support to live a healthier lifestyle, with the launch of HealthyRoutes on the High Street.
Officially opened on Friday 13 May by the Mayor of Wigan Borough Councillor Susan Loudon and situated on Bradshawgate, HealthyRoutes on the High Street gives local people quick and easy access to help and support with stopping smoking, being more active, weight management, drinking less and improving mental wellbeing.
HealthyRoutes on the High Street is a brand new initiative commissioned by Wigan Council and provided by City Health Care Partnership CIC (CHCP CIC). Andrew Burnell, Chief Executive at CHCP CIC is delighted about the new venue opening.
“We are very excited to be bringing HealthyRoutes to the high street in Leigh. The innovative Well Point kiosks in the centre are a fantastic way for people to keep track of their health; you can just pop in to measure your weight, blood pressure, body fat and other key information. You can also use our pioneering QuitPal and Bite Size apps on your smartphone to support you to stop smoking or lose weight and we hope that bringing HealthyRoutes to the high street in this way will help local people to lead healthier, happier lives.”
Councillor Keith Cunliffe, portfolio holder for health and adult social care at Wigan Council, said: “We want to make sure our residents have the best opportunity to look after themselves and we know that keeping people healthy will lead to happier lives and help reduce the cost of treatment and support people might need dealing with preventable conditions. This new store is another innovative way of helping our residents keep themselves healthy and making accessing support even easier.”
