Hull takes One Small Step towards a healthier lifestyle

People living in Hull are being asked to take One Small Step to a healthier lifestyle during a special event this weekend.
Taking place this Saturday at Queen Victoria Square, Hull, people visiting the city-centre will be given the chance to take a break from their shopping and get involved in a number of activities taking place throughout the day.
The fun begins from 11:00am onwards and activities throughout the day include chances to take part in ten-minute work outs, cookery demonstrations, exhibitions, special guest appearances and even the chance for individuals to make a fresh fruit smoothie using a bicycle powered blender!
A team of health professionals will also be on hand to provide information on the free services available from City Health Care Partnership, which have all been designed to support people lose weight and get active.
In addition to being able to sign up for the services on the day, individuals can also sign up to a service at any time by texting STEP to 61825 (standard network rates apply) or by calling 01482 344046.
Over the past 12 months City Health Care Partnership has helped people in the city lose 10,000 pounds in weight, but it is encouraging more people to get involved. Giles Bridgeman, Head of Public Health Services, City Health Care Partnership, said:
“The launch of One Small Step promises to be a fun event that will give people who are wanting to lose weight a chance to find out much more about the free services available on their doorstep.
“We are launching the One Small Step campaign to help show the variety of support that is available to individuals of all shapes and sizes. Each programme offered is individually tailored by a qualified health professional and designed to help everyone who signs up to the programme to reach their goals.”
