Let’s Talk are here to help
21 May, 2020
During the Coronavirus outbreak most people have been concentrating on their physical health but Mental Health Awareness Week (18 to 24 May) has been a reminder that we also need to look after our mental and emotional wellbeing.
City Health Care Partnership CIC’s Let’s Talk service is still very much open for business and providing a vital support to people who are struggling with a range of issues, some of which may be made worse by the stress of the pandemic.
Dawn Barnes, operational manager for psychological wellbeing at CHCP, described some of the issues that Let’s Talk can help with. “We can help people experiencing bereavement, trauma, health anxiety, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, social anxiety, loneliness, a feeling of being overwhelmed, worry and any other feelings that you are finding it hard to cope with,” she said.
“Getting in touch with Let’s Talk couldn’t be easier; you can either call 01482 247111 or go to www.letstalkhull.co.uk/pages/make-a-referral to fill in an online form. Your referral will be assessed in the same way whether it’s by phone or online, then the team will look at what your needs are and what your next step should be. They will recommend a therapy that will work for you and give you options from our list of providers of who can help.
“The provider (for example a counsellor, bereavement specialist or stress control expert) will then get in touch with you by phone or text to talk you through the next steps. Your appointments will either be on the phone or by video link; whichever works best for you.”
One person who used Let’s Talk said, “After filling in an online referral, I was seen to right away and given multiple options that would suit me. There was no issue when I needed to move location and the times around me. Everybody I met was super helpful.” Another client praised Let’s Talk, saying, “Amazingly good service. I have nothing but brilliant things to say about my therapist and my time engaging with CBT and this service. Thank you!!”
