Make a new start with the Lifestyle Change Service
07 February, 2011
A new service is being delivered by City Health Care Partnership which aims to help people who are currently out of work and in receipt of benefits take steps towards gaining employment, by improving both their mental and physical wellbeing. The new Lifestyle Change Service offers personalised one-to-one support to become more active, stop smoking and eat healthier. It also offers a link to services providing things such as work place training courses and specialised healthcare.
This service is available to anyone who has a Hull GP and is eligible for Incapacity Benefit or the Employment Support Allowance from April 2008.
Jane Collinson, Programme Manager, City Health Care Partnership, explained, "We are delighted to officially launch the Lifestyle Change Service for eligible people in Hull. This free service can help to improve general health and wellbeing through one to one support. The intention is to enable individuals to achieve small sustainable lifestyle changes which will improve their daily lifestyle and may help prevent future illness.
The service allows individuals to tailor the support they would like, from general day-to-day issues such as stopping smoking, losing weight or obtaining up-to date information on their health issues such as diabetes. The service also works in partnership with employment support organisations to offer specific training opportunities to enable individuals to feel they are more prepared and ready for work."
