Making it Mutual

18 March, 2013

Hull’s City Health Care Partnership CIC Chief Executive Andrew Burnell has contributed to an essay collection launched by think tank ResPublica today.

Making It Mutual, showcases the importance of ownership, mutuality and reciprocity as mainstream principles for the economy and society.  Health Care Mutuals – a view from the frontline looks at City Health Care Partnership CIC’s growth as a mutual and wider social value.

Andrew says, “I was delighted to be asked to contribute and it’s a fantastic way to share and highlight our experiences in Hull.”

“City Health Care PartnershipCIC  is now in its fourth year of trading as an independent for-profit company. The use of such a term is deliberate: we are a business, and we need to make a profit to survive and grow. It is what we do with that profit that is key to our objectives as a Community Interest Company – investing in staff, services and the community, and not in external shareholders. It is important that we keep the rewards of our trading and growth within the areas where we provide care and services - adding value beyond mere contractual agreements.”
