New East Riding Sexual Health clinics

05 May, 2015

City Health Care Partnership CIC, who run the sexual and reproductive healthcare service ‘Conifer’ in the East Riding, have announced plans for new clinics and improvements to existing services across the area, which will start on Tuesday 5 May.

This will mean that there will be a main service ‘hub’ in Beverley, which will provide a full range of services from contraception, including fitting coils and implants, and cervical smears to diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections and help for sexual dysfunction. Until the new hub is ready, patients can go to a temporary venue at Castle Hill Hospital and the clinic for Beverley residents at Beverley Health Centre on Manor Road will continue.

Clinics in Driffield, Goole, Bridlington and Hessle will continue but in time they will be joined by new venues in Withernsea, Hornsea and Pocklington, giving East Riding residents much easier access to sexual health treatment and support.

Kate Guthrie, Clinical Director at Conifer, said, “East Riding is a large area geographically, making local specialist service provision challenging. We believe people who live there want the services but it is difficult to access them. We are addressing this by changing our clinical model. Our aim is to enable men and women who need contraception or sexual health investigations or treatment to have more choice in accessing these locally to their homes or place of work and at times that fit in with their lives.”
