No Smoking Day - 11th March 2015

21 January, 2015

Smokers are being urged to take the first step in giving up cigarettes for good on No Smoking Day which takes place on Wednesday 11 March.

The annual campaign is run by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and encourages hundreds of thousands of smokers to make a quit attempt on No Smoking Day.

The Oral Health Promotion Service will be working with Public Health Services to raise awareness of the No Smoking Day campaign, both on the day and also in the weeks before No Smoking Day (NSD).

This year’s No Smoking Day theme is ‘Proud to be a Quitter and this will be promoted by sharing the stories of local people who have successfully stopped smoking to raise awareness of the Stop Smoking Service and what it offers to those ready to quit in communities across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire.

The Health Promotion Team will engage in face-to-face activity across the area and the service’s mascot Wilma Willpower will go out with the team on the mobile unit with Stop Smoking Specialists to give out information about support that is available and signpost the public to the nearest/most appropriate stop smoking clinics.
