Training offered for Carer Champions
22 September, 2015
The Carers Information and Support Service (CISS) are looking for people who work for voluntary or public sector services to come forward and become a Carer Champion.
CISS is a service offered by City Health Care Partnership CIC and provides information and support to over 23,000 unpaid carers across Hull.
The role of a Carer Champion is to spread the word and inform their colleagues of the benefits of, and support offered by CISS, particularly to those who may fall into the category of unpaid carer and be eligible for support.
The Champions will receive free training which will help them to appreciate what unpaid carers can experience when supporting a loved one. The training will give the Champions the ability to identify an unpaid carer and signpost them to where they can receive help and support.
Beverley Shore, Outreach, Development and Advice Worker at CISS said,
“Most of us know or have known someone who has provided support and care to a loved one, family member or friend who could not survive without their help. Yet how many people are aware of the support available to unpaid carers or how to access it?
“This is a fantastic opportunity to be able to reach out and help unpaid carers by giving them vital information and pointing them in the right direction.”
Training sessions are taking place from October, to find out more information and to book a place contact CISS on 01482 22 22 20 or email chcp.carersinfo@nhs.net.
