Valuing Staff, Society and the Economy – CHCP CIC Pay a Living Wage
18 March, 2013
At City Health Care Partnership CIC (CHCP CIC) we are always looking to improve the standard of living for staff, whilst further enhancing our role and impact within the wider economy and society.
We are pleased therefore to announce that we are now an accredited Living Wage Employer. This new initiative has lifted over 45,000 families nationally out of working poverty and afforded them the opportunity to provide for themselves and their families, all as a direct result of the Living Wage.
As a living wage employer, from the 1 April 2013 eligible staff will earn not just the minimum wage of £6.19 per hour but the Living Wage currently set at £7.45.
Andrew Burnell, Chief Executive of CHCP CIC said “As a social business our staff are our most valuable asset. We want to ensure now and in the future that as an employer of choice, all staff feel they are remunerated appropriately as one of the ways they feel valued.”
As a business 70% of employers felt that the Living Wage had increased consumer awareness of their organisation’s commitment to be an ethical employer.
The Living Wage is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually, based on the cost living in the UK. We believe that every member of our staff deserves a Living Wage.
Rhys Moore Director of the Living Wage Foundation said “The benefits the Living Wage brings to staff and business are clear. I welcome the leadership shown by City Health Care Partnership CIC on this important issue.” You can find out more about the Living Wage by visiting www.livingwage.org.uk.
