A group of volunteers who give their time to provide a tea bar at Morrill Street Health Centre have raised money to give to charity groups: Marfleet Allotment Society and Hull Kingston Rovers (KR) Disabled Support Group. Profits made from the tea bar are donated back into the delivering the tea bar and for wider community benefit.

The Friends of Morrill Street Health Centre are supported by Sharon Douglas and the customer service team who work for City Health Care Partnership CIC (CHCP CIC). This year CHCP CIC asked the volunteers which local community projects they would like to donate to and these were then voted by the customers to receive £200 each.

Nigel Wright, Secretary of Marfleet Allotment Society said, “Thank you so very much. The money will go towards buying more tools for plot holders to use if they forget to bring their own. It will also help us get ready for Hull in Bloom, as we were highly commended last year.”

“We would like to give a massive thank you to the ladies; the money will be beneficial for everyone,” said Hannah Bainton, Chair of Hull KR Disabled Support Group. “Our main aim is to enable those who are disabled to enjoy the rugby like those who are able-bodied do.”

Cheques were presented to the charity groups at Morrill Street Health Centre by Andrew Burnell, Chief Executive of CHCP CIC who said, “It is all about community pride; you all do fantastic jobs and work tirelessly to get people involved so they can be part of something astonishing.”
