Caring about carers' rights

18 November, 2015

The Carers’ Information and Support Service (CISS) is holding an open day for Carer’s Rights day on Friday 20th November.

The open day will give members of the public the opportunity to pop into CISS on King Edward Street, Hull any time between 10am and 4pm, they will be able find out about what entitlement and support is available for anyone who is involved in caring for a loved one.

CISS is a service provided by City Health Care Partnership CIC (CHCP CIC) and offers free information and advice to the 23,000 plus unpaid carers in Hull, who in turn provide support to family or friends who could not manage without their help. Each year, Carers’ Rights Day is held across the UK to bring organisations together and help carers in their local community find out how to get the help and support they are entitled to.

CISS will be joined by local support group, Inspire Communities and their caring for carers group, a newly established group set up to support carers in having time for themselves, accessing activities and learning new skills.

Beverley Shore, Outreach Development Advice Worker for CISS has said, “Carers’ Rights Day is an ideal time for people to drop by our friendly service and find out what help and support is out there for anyone caring for a loved one.”

The open day will be taking part on Friday 20th November between 10am and 4pm at CISS, 30 King Edward Street, Hull.
