Dementia support for family and friends

The Carers Information and Support Service (CISS) are taking to the road in order to raise awareness of dementia, particularly with family and friends of those affected. CISS will be offering information on what support is available, what you can do if you are concerned around memory loss and how to seek a diagnosis.
CISS is a service offered by City Health Care Partnership CIC and provides information and support to over 23,000 unpaid carers across Hull.
An information bus will be stopping in various locations in Hull during the week commencing 21st September, the full list of dates and locations are:
- Monday 21 September, 10am to 4pm: Queen Victoria Square, City Centre
- Tuesday 22 September, 10am to 12noon: North Point Shopping Centre
- Tuesday 22 September, 1pm to 4pm: Asda Bellfield Avenue
- Wednesday 23 September, 8.30am to 12.30pm: Walton Street Market
- Thursday 24 September, 10am to 12noon: Asda Beverley Road
- Thursday 24 September, 1pm to 4pm: Tesco, Hall Road
- Friday 25 September 10am to 4pm: Tesco, Hall Road
There are an estimated 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with two thirds of those living in the community, being supported and cared for by friends and family.
Beverley Shore, Outreach, Development and Advice Worker for CISS has said,
“We hope that members of the public across Hull will see this as an opportunity to keep informed on the best ways to support a loved one who is experiencing memory problems. We also want to raise awareness of the support that is available to those caring for somebody with dementia, as this can have a huge impact on their own needs.”
